A Fairy Tale Wedding Day
Debora & Oliver Selway – Wednesday 26th October 2016
Hotel Hesperia Lanzarote – Puerto Calero
There is no better feeling than seeing two people become husband and wife amongst family & friends. To see the happiness on their faces and to see the love and joy expressed through their entire wedding day. It’s a very rewarding experience and one that simply fills your heart with so much emotion when seeing those wedding plans come together after careful planning alongside the couple. This wasn’t however your average wedding. It wasn’t the case of having 6 to 12 months to plan their wedding day, instead I had just 2 short months to find that suitable dream venue that both Debora & Oliver would find perfect and would put that everlasting smile on their faces.
Lanzarote & Fuerteventura have many beautiful wedding venues across both of these Canary Islands. What Debora & Oliver wanted however was to feel the sand between their toes and to have the sea as a backdrop whilst they celebrated their union. Alongside Perfect Weddings Abroad, we worked together to plan this once in a lifetime day so that this lovely couple from the UK could remember for the rest of their lives as the best day they’ve shared together yet. We wanted to create memories, for it to be magical and we wanted it to stand out with the great attention to detail that we deliver.
I’m sure Debora & Oliver will agree that the hotel alongside the great team of suppliers that we work with definitely matched their expectations and that we provided them with the best wedding co-ordination service that the island could offer with the timeframe that we had to deliver this beautiful wedding.
Perfect Weddings Abroad are not the leading overseas wedding specialists for nothing and their reputation in the market place speaks volumes internationally. So much so the demand for them to launch over in Lanzarote & Fuerteventura was too much for them to refuse and i’m proud to be working alongside this phenomenal company as their wedding co-ordinator across the islands. Debora & Oliver’s wedding being one of those with many booked going forward into 2017/2018.
So questions is how was Debora & Oliver’s wedding a fairytale wedding?
What I love most about wedding planning is the relationship you develop with the couple. Debora in particular carefully planned from start to finish what she and Oliver wanted to include in their wedding day. We had rather a few challenges alongside the short timeframe to turn this wedding around but the input from both the bride and groom was exceptional and as a wedding planner, very helpful. Not all couples like to trouble themselves or even the wedding planner with the styling side of their wedding day but together we ensured that Debora’s dream wedding theme was created and that this was exactly to the style that she wanted on her day. Not all couples are able to eat what everyone can and this was the case with this particular wedding. From working closely with the hotel we were able to provide great food alternatives to suit the bridal party and the wedding cake was made to the design that the bride had chosen all dairy/wheat/soya/gluten free so this could be enjoyed by everyone. Nothing was too much trouble.
The carefully written wedding service put together by our english speaking celebrant Jackie, was so beautifully personalised with the couple once again taking such time to make sure this was exactly how they wanted it. This including a section that incorporate a “Fight Box”. The words were emotionally touching, the sincerity in the vows when they were taken showed how deep the love is felt by this lovely couple and there was not a dry eye in the house. The service included the amazingly talented Harriet Jelly who sang as the bride entered with her rendition of “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, also included the Amy Winehouse version of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and concluded with the couple leaving to the popular dance song by Candi Staton “You’ve Got The Love”.
Cocktail Reception was outside on the beautiful decking area of the Hesperia Hotel – Lanza Beach Club/La Caleta where canapés and refreshments were served whilst Harriet once again sang an array of songs personally selected by the couple. The celebrations continued once the photos were finished being taken by the fantastic Betty who mixed in casual shots alongside the more traditional family photos. There was such great creativity with the photos from the input of the couple and this being carefully discussed at the pre-wedding meeting with the photographer.
Speeches were from the heart, including a lovely translated piece from the bride’s mother Maria which was translated by Ruth to English for all to understand. Guests had travelled from all over the world including New York to be present and the celebrations carried on late into the night with songs played by the great DJ Colin Roach Casares.
Love, Care and Understanding the words that will end my blog today on the fabulous wedding of Debora & Oliver.
Love for the feelings they hold for one another
Care for how they wanted their special day to be
Understanding of each other through their incredible bond with one another.
Here’s to many years of happiness.
